Raoul Dufy celebrated, amongst other things, a life of pleasure and plenty in Nice in the south of France.
Although the casino at Nice was destroyed during the German occupation of France Dufy continued to include it in his paintings of the 1950’s!
His technique derived from his understanding of Henri Matisse’s work which he evolved into his own unique style.
