In the Style of Alberto Giacometti

SEATED WOMAN (yellows & greys)

Portrait of Caroline

Giacometti’s art is in many ways an exporation of “process”.  The process of painting itself, and the process of looking and observing, and translating those observations into marks on a canvas.  It is a completed stripped  out form of painting which makes no concessions to narrative or makes any attempt to please the eye.

Sometimes I think he was the greatest painter of the twentieth century – so its strange tht he is most famous for his sculptures.  Caroline was his lover for many years.
